(06/15/1888-11/28/1918)

East Africa was assigned to Germany at the Congress of Berlin in 1885 and its administration entrusted to the German East Africa Company. The territory with an area of almost one million square kilometers had a population on the eve of the First World War of 7.5 million inhabitants with Dar es Salaam as its capital. Colony in 1890, it was after the Treaty of Versailles entrusted to the English administration and became Tanganyika (now Tanzania).
