Historical background

AGRIPPINA MAJOR

(15 BC - 33 AD)

Consecration of Claude I

Agrippina is the daughter of Agrippa and Julie. She is therefore Auguste's granddaughter. In AD 5, she married Germanicus, the son of Drusus and Antonia. She gave him nine children including Caligula and young Agrippina. After the mysterious death of her husband in 19, she fell out with Tiberius. Finally, she was arrested in 29 and deported to Pandateria where she starved herself to death four years later..
