Reverse description : La Vierge nimbée et couronnée, trônant dans les nuées, posée sur un croissant, tenant un globe crucigère et l'enfant Jésus.

Commentary

Maximilien III Joseph a succédé à son père, Charles, en 1745. Charles, qui avait essayé de s'emparer de la couronne impériale, avait vu Munich occupée et la Bavière ne fut d'ailleurs rendue à Maximilien III qu'après qu'il ait reconnu les prétentions de François de Lorraine et de Marie-Thérèse à l'Empire. Il passa son règne à essayer de restaurer son duché. Sans héritier, le duché de Bavière passa dans la maison de Sulzbach avec Charles-Théodore (1777-1799).
