Historical background

GERMANY - BRANDEBOURG-PRUSSIA

(1618-1701)

Brandenburg-Prussia is the name of the personal union from 1618 of the March of Brandenburg and the Duchy of Prussia, the union of the two states consisting of the unity of the ruler of the Hohenzollern dynasty. This discontinuous set will be completed in 1648 by Pomerania following the Treaty of Westphalia. On January 18, 1701, with the agreement of Emperor Leopold I, Elector Frederick III became King Frederick I, giving birth to the Kingdom of Prussia.
