Les exemplaires de ce type se rencontrent souvent avec des petits défauts de flan ou de frappe, et sont souvent frustres. Il ne s’agit pas d’un problème d’usure lié à une circulation dense, mais de fabrication des carolins d’or.

Historical background

GERMANY - PALATINATE - CHARLES-PHILIP

(1716-1742)

Charles III Philippe was Elector of the Palatinate, Count Palatine of Neubourg, Duke of Juliers and Duke of Berg from 1716 to 1742, and Count of Megen from 1716 to 1728. His brother Jean-Guillaume de Neubourg-Wittelsbach having died in 1716, he succeeds under the name of Charles III Philippe. To strengthen the union between the branches of his dynasty, on January 17, 1742 he united his granddaughter Elisabeth-Auguste to his nephew and heir Charles Theodore of Bavaria, and his sister Marie-Anne to Prince Clement of Bavaria. A member of the House of Wittelsbach, he voted, to the detriment of François-Étienne de Lorraine, for his cousin, the Duke-Elector of Bavaria Charles-Albert during the imperial election which followed the death of Emperor Charles VI. He died in December 1742..
