(1816-1864)

William I, born September 27, 1781 in Lüben in Prussia and died June 25, 1864 in Stuttgart, was from 1816 to 1864 the second king of Württemberg. Eldest son of Duke Frederick III of Württemberg (future King Frederick I) and his first wife Augusta of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, he belongs to the first branch known as the "elder branch" of the House of Württemberg.
