Agréable monnaie avec des types complets et assez bien venus. Patine grise avec une légère concrétion dans l’annelet du revers

Obverse description : Tête barbare, très stylisée à droite, les cheveux hirsutes ; le nez et l'œil marqués ; une croisette à midi et des globules devant le visage.

Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Carré perlé, avec un annelet pointé au centre, accosté de quatre petits traits bouletés dans les angles.
Commentary
Avec les globules devant le visage et la croisette au-dessus de la tête, ce sceat ne correspond à aucunes des variétés G0-4 !.

(7th - 8th centuries)
If the minting of these coins is to be located at the beginning of the 8th century, in Great Britain, it is not exceptional to find them in Gaul. They are often confused with Merovingian silver coins (cf. MONNAIES XIX, n° 503, sceattas c. 680-710, classified in Merovingian denier of Laon). During the 8th century, the style of these pieces is more and more degenerated, they are often in ridge or filled. These coins disappeared from circulation in the second half of the 8th century.
