Cette monnaie a été frappée en 1933 par les Établissements Poinsard et Veyret de Hai Phong. Ces monnaies étaient frappées sur des feuilles de laiton avec une machine Taylor & Challe.

Historical background


ANNAM - BAO DAI

(1926-1945)

On November 6, 1925, Buu Dao, Emperor of Annam under the name of Khai Dinh died. His son Prince Vinh Thuy (1913-1997) succeeded him under the name of Bao Dai. He is partly educated in France. Following the 1945 Japanese coup in Indochina, he declared independence and broke the protectorate treaty with France. Following the capitulation of Japan, he was dismissed by the Viet Minh and was forced to abdicate. In 1949, he proclaimed the State of Vietnam in the southern part. In 1955, he was dismissed in favor of his Prime Minister Ngô Đình Diệm who proclaimed the republic. He ended his life in exile in France. This was to be the last emperor of Annam (1926-1945).
