ANTONINUS PIUS and MARCUS AURELIUS CAESAR

(140-161)

On Hadrian's recommendation, Antonin adopted Marc Aurèle and Lucius Vérus. On the coinage, Marcus Aurelius appeared in 139. He took his first consulship on January 1, 140 and his second consulship on January 1, 145. He married the daughter of Antoninus, Faustina young. The following year, at the birth of their first child, he received his first tribunician power. In 161, he succeeded his adoptive father.
