Bel exemplaire sur un flan ovale et irrégulier, fissuré à 6 heures. Usure régulière à la fine patine marron foncé, presque noire, granuleuse au droit

Poids léger. Étonnant revers fauté avec la répétition du “O” en fin de légende. Pourtant, la monnaie ne semble pas être une imitation.

Consecration of Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus
Antonin was born in 86. He already fell very ill in 144 and nearly died. From 160, the Emperor is continually bedridden. At the beginning of the year 161, Antonin no longer gets up and dies on March 7, 161. He is immediately deified by Marcus Aurelius and buried in the Mausoleum of Hadrian, the current Castel Sant'Angelo. The crematorium "Ustrinum Antonini Pii" seems to be the one that was already used for the cremation of Faustina the Elder in 141. It is located in Regio IX of the Circus Maximus, west of the Corso, near the current Piazza Montecitorio.
