Commentary


Type inhabituel et particulier. Le revers est directement copié sur le monnayage athénien stéphanophore dit “de nouveau style” tandis que le droit est emprunté au monnayage d’Auguste.

(1st century BC - 1st century AD)

The Himyarites are mentioned by Pliny (VI, 161). "Happy Arabia" was not part of the Roman Empire but was very important strategically for controlling the spice and silk route to and from India and China.
