Denier d’une rare qualité, sur un flan large et régulier, très légèrement scyphate. Très beaux reliefs avec des types de frappe vigoureuse, bien qu’un peu confuse au revers. Patine grise de collection ancienne, très légèrement grattée autour des reliefs

Reverse description : Cheval libre galopant à droite ; au-dessus, une S pointée ; entre les jambes, un hippocampe très stylisé.

Commentary

Sur un flan spectaculaire pour cette série, cette monnaie s’insère dans l’ensemble de deniers lamellaires tantôt attribués aux Ambiens et tantôt aux Aulerques, sans correspondre exactement à aucune des monnaies publiées.
Une intéressante similitude stylistique peut-être faite au niveau du droit, avec un panache très proche de certaines drachmes à la croix de la série triangulaire cf. Savès 118 bis.
