AUSTRIA - TYROL - JOSEPH I

(1705-1711)

Joseph I (1678-1711) was the eldest son of Léopold I and Éléonore. He was King of Bohemia in 1690 and succeeded his father in 1705. He resumed the warlike policy vis-à-vis France and supported his brother, Charles (future Charles VI), in his claims to the Spanish succession. Joseph I died before the end of the conflict having had only daughters and the throne passed to his brother, Charles, in 1711.
