Exemplaire sur un petit flan ovale et épais, bien centré. Trace de double frappe au droit sur le grènetis. Revers identifiable. Patine de collection ancienne

BABYLONIA - BABYLON

(331-306 BC)

Alexander III seized Babylon in 331 BC. He then named Mazaios, a former satrap of Cilicia between 361 and 334 BC, who had rallied to the conqueror, as satrap of Babylonia. Mazaios died in 328 BC and was then replaced by Stamenes between 328 and 323 BC, then by Archon between 323 and 321 BC. Seleucus became a satrap from 321 BC. When the latter was expelled from Babylon, he was replaced by Peithon in the name of Antigone le Borgne between 317 and 311 BC. 306 BC and founded the Seleucid dynasty. He is the last survivor of Alexander's lieutenants. He was assassinated in 280 BC..
