Euthydemos ousted Diodotus II, the son of Diodotus I, the first usurper in Bactria, who revolted against the authority of Antiochus II Theos (261-346 BC) around 250 BC The reign of Euthydemos was long and he had to face during his reign, Antiochus III the Great who fought him in Bactria and besieged Balkh in 208 BC.
