Commentary

Selon les analyse d’A. Pol, ce triens contient 38% d’or.
Cet exemplaire présente des légendes presque complètes qui permettent d’attribuer ce triens à Beaumont, pour le monétaire Ermoaldvs. Le Belfort recense divers triens pour ce monétaire ; avec une croix latine (B. 6041), une croix ancrée (B. 6042) ou une croix soudée sur la base (B. 819) comme l’exemplaire proposé ici.
Les lettres en cantonnement sont deux V tête bêche, A-C ou H-II .

The gold coinage for Gaul seems to stop in 670. For Bello Monte (Beaumont) we have at least two different coins: Audieranus and Ermoaldus. According to the latest conclusions of J. Lafaurie, the dating of these pale gold coins seems to be late around the years 640, that is to say thirty years before the end of the minting of gold coins.
