Ce gros est frappé sur un flan large et irrégulier. Monnaie présentant quelques faiblesses de frappe et recouverte d’une patine grise. La croix du droit apparaît légèrement en négatif au revers

Ce gros semble inédit. Il devrait normalement porter au droit le nom du duc Jean III de Brabant (1312-1355) et non pas la légende MONETA ANTVVP (Monnaie d’Anvers) qui se retrouve également au revers. Faut-il la classer à Jean III ?.

(1312-1355)

John III of Brabant is the son of John II (1275-1312) and Margaret of England (1275-1318), daughter of Edward of England. He succeeded his father in 1312. He married his daughters: Marguerite (1323-1368) to Louis de Male, Count of Flanders (1330-1384) in 1347 and Jeanne to Wenceslas of Luxembourg, Duke of Brabant (1337-1383) in 1352.
