Historical background

BRITTANY - DUCHY OF BRITTANY - CONAN III

(1112-1148)

Son of Alain IV, and Ermengarde, Conan III was associated with power from 1112, and probably reigned alone from 1115. Conan III dismissed his son Hoël from power by appointing his grandson, the future Conan IV - to succeed him. On the death of Conan III, in 1148, the duchy was placed under the regency of his son-in-law, Eudes de Porhoët and father of Conan IV.
