Commentary

Dumas, RN 1964)..

Historical background

BRITTANY - DUCHY OF BRITTANY - JOHN II, ARTHUR II AND JOHN III - ANONYMOUS COINAGE

(1286-1341)

The appearance of the house of Dreux (1137-1341) is characterized by the presence of the triangular and then square crest of Dreux in the free quarter of Brittany. Many anonymous Breton coins were struck between 1286 and 1341 under the dukes Jean II, Arthur II and Jean III.
