Exemplaire sur un flan ovale centré des deux côtés. Beau portrait de Commode. Revers de style un peu mou avec une représentation inhabituelle. Patine grise superficielle avec des reflets dorés

Reverse description : Fides (la Fidélité) drapée debout à gauche, tenant un long sceptre noueux de la main droite, surmonté d’un aigle et une corne d’abondance de la main gauche.

Reverse translation : “Pontifex Maximus Tribunicia Potestate septimum decimum Imperator octavum Consul septimum Pater Patriæ”, (Grand pontife revêtu de la dix-septième puissance tribunitienne et de la huitième acclamation impériale consul pour la septième fois père de la patrie).

Commentary

Rubans de type 2. Le revers est parfois décrit comme une enseigne car terminée par un aigle. La représentation est très particulière. C’est la première fois ce que nous proposons ce type à la vente qui semble plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux.
