COMORES - GRANDE COMORE - SAID ALI IBN SAID AMR

(1885-1909)

The occupation of the Comoros began in 1841 in Mayotte, which King Andriotsoly of Madagascar sold to France in 1843. The three other islands (Anjouan, Mohéli and Grande Comore) belonged to Sultan Said Ali. The Comoros are placed under French protectorate between 1886 and 1912. Become colonies in 1912, the Comoros depend on Madagascar until 1946.
