Obverse description : Écu de Flavius Chigi (écartelé au 1 et 4 d'azur au rouvre d'or aux rameaux passés en sautoir et au 2 et 3 de gueules au mont à trois cimes d'or accompagné en chef d'une étoile de même) sous deux clefs croisées et une tiare pontificale.
Obverse translation : (Alexandre VII, grand pontife, 1657).

Fabius Chigi was elected pope on April 7, 1655 and consecrated on April 18 as Alexander VII. Bernini's colonnade in St. Peter's Square in Rome was completed under the pontificate. He died on May 22, 1667.
