Historical background

CONSTANTIUS I

(+306)

Consecration of Constantinus I

Constantius Chlorus had died on July 25, 306. Immediately after his death, Constantine issued an important coinage of consecration in the workshops he controlled. The coins of 317-318 are a restitution coinage where Claudius II the Gothic and Maximian Hercules are associated with the father of Constantine.
