Exemplaire sur un flan large pour ce type, parfaitement centré des deux côtés. Sublime petit buste de Constantin II. Joli revers de style fin. Patine marron foncé lissée

Obverse description : Buste lauré et cuirassé de Constantin II césar à droite avec pan de paludamentum sur l’épaule, vu de trois quarts en avant (B*01).

Reverse description : Deux soldats debout face à face, vêtus militairement, tenant chacun une haste renversée et s’appuyant sur un bouclier ; au milieu, deux enseignes militaires.

Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. Cuirasse et épaulière cloutées. Ptéryges larges.

Caesar

Born in February 317 according to the most recent chronology, Constantine the Younger receives on coins the title of Caesar like his half-brother Crispus and his cousin Licinius, as well as the title of Prince of Youth. Constantine II is the eldest son of Constantine I and Fausta. In September 337, he received the "pars occidentalis" from the Empire with subjection to his brother Constans, Constantius II having the "pars orientalis". Very quickly, Constantin and Constans fall out. The eldest is eliminated in April 340.
