Historical background

CONSTANTINE VII and ZOE

(914-919)

Constantin VII, born in 908, was the son of Leo VI and Zoe. He was associated with the throne on May 15, 908, but his uncle Alexander succeeded his brother (912-913). The regency was then exercised by the patriarch Nicolas Mysticus, finally from 914 by Zoé.
