Coments on the condition:
Hors loupe, cette monnaie est un Fleur de Coin sublime à l'aspect extraordinaire, d'une fraîcheur, d'un brillant d'origine....LE demi-franc Napoléon Empereur. À la loupe, la situation est plus complexe, en grande partie d'origine d'ailleurs, et nous avons donc opté après concertation pour le SPL 64 afin de rester aussi conservateurs que possible. La frappe est parfaite, pour la même raison que le 1/4 de franc tête de nègre N°11 de Coll. A.D. : la monnaie a été frappée deux fois. Un examen attentif montre autour du portrait les irrégularités dans le flan causées par la trace incuse d'une couronne de lauriers, celle d'un revers. L'exemplaire a donc subi un deuxième passage au balancier, certainement avec une force beaucoup plus grande que normale, requise pour effacer les traces de la frappe précédente. Le résultat est donc parfait mais des traces de couronne de laurier subsistent dans le champ et sont perceptibles avec un examen attentif à la loupe sous une lumière convenablement inclinée. On remarque aussi, dans les mêmes conditions, trois microscopiques morceaux de métal, l'un sur la bouche, l'autre sur le nez de l'Empereur. S'agit-il de conséquences de la surfrappe ou de déchets de métal ? Leur taille trop réduite interdit d'en décider mais il est certain que leur présence est d'origine. La tranche est convenablement centrée, pas très profonde et présente quelques irrégularités dues à un double passage. Les coins sont très frais, surtout le revers, les surfaces presque miroirs avec un très léger velours. Pratiquement pas de patine, la monnaie a son brillant d'origine. Infime effacement de la surface d'origine sur deux mèches, le sourcil et la troncature du cou. Au revers, l'affaiblissement touche le rebord de quelques feuilles de la couronne, tout ceci n'étant visible qu'à la loupe
