Exemplaire sur un flan large et ovale, bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis visibles. Portrait magnifique de haut relief. Revers de style fin. Belle patine noire, légèrement granuleuse

Commentary


Poids lourd. Dénomination tout à fait inhabituelle, mais inscrite au revers dans le champ. Trou de centrage au centre sur le visage et au revers sur Artémis.

Caesar

Diadumenian becomes Caesar when his father Macrin is proclaimed august in April 217. He receives the title of prince of youth. Macrinus brings him into the Severian family by making him take the prænomen of Antoninus, as he himself seized that of Severus. After the proclamation of Elagabalus, Macrinus raised his son to august in May 218 for a very short period. Beaten in June, Macrin and Diaduménien fled. The latter is caught while trying to pass to the Parthians by crossing the Euphrates. He is killed.
