Exemplaire sur un flan large et ovale, bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis visibles. Très belle tête de Domitien. Revers de style fin. Faiblesse de frappe sur la fin des légendes au droit et au revers. Jolie patine vert foncé, légèrement granuleuse

Obverse description : Tête radiée de Domitien à droite (O).
Obverse translation : "Imperator Cæsar Domitianus Augustus Germanicus Consul quintum decimum Censor Perpetuus Pater Patriæ", (L'empereur césar Domitien auguste germanique consul pour la quinzième fois censeur perpétuel père de la patrie).

Reverse


Reverse legend : VIRTVTI - [AVGVSTI]/ S|C.
Reverse description : Minerve ou Virtus (la Virilité), casquée et drapée debout à droite, le pied droit posé sur un casque, tenant le parazonium de la main droite et un long sceptre ou une javeline de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Virtuti Augusti”, (À la Virilité de l'auguste).

Augustus

Domitian, born in 51, became august in 81, succeeding his brother. In 86, the Capitoline games were organized for the first time. The Flavian Palace is erected on the Palatine. In 88, the secular games were celebrated with pomp. A first campaign is launched on Dacia which ends with a peace of compromise, leaving Decebalus master of the situation. Domitian has just won a brilliant campaign against the Sarmatians and the Suevi (IMP XXII). Agricola died in disgrace on August 23, 93. In 95, Domitian had Flavius Clemens, his cousin, executed. The following year, Domitian will be assassinated at the instigation of his wife and the prefect of the Praetorium.
