Obverse translation : “Imperator Cæsar Domitianus Augustus Germanicus Pontifex Maximus Tribunicia Potestate quintum decimum”, (L’empereur césar Domitien auguste germanique grand pontife revêtu de la quinzième puissance tribunitienne).

Reverse description : Minerve ou Pallas casquée, vêtue du chiton avec l’égide flottant au vent debout à droite sur une proue de navire, brandissant une javeline de la main droite et un bouclier de la main gauche ; une chouette à ses pieds à droite.
Reverse translation : “Imperator duovicesimum Consul septimum decimum Censor Perpetuus Pater Patriæ”, (revêtu de la vingt-deuxième salutation impériale consul pour la dix-septième fois censeur perpétuel père de la patrie).

Augustus

Domitian, born in 51, became august in 81, succeeding his brother. In 86, the Capitoline games were organized for the first time. The Flavian Palace is erected on the Palatine. In 88, the secular games were celebrated with pomp. A first campaign is launched on Dacia which ends with a peace of compromise, leaving Decebalus master of the situation. Domitian has just won a brilliant campaign against the Sarmatians and the Suevi (IMP XXII). Agricola died in disgrace on August 23, 93. In 95, Domitian had Flavius Clemens, his cousin, executed. The following year, Domitian will be assassinated at the instigation of his wife and the prefect of the Praetorium.
