Coments on the condition:
Exemplaire sur un flan bien centré des deux côtés. Très beau portrait inhabituel de Domitien à gauche. Usure plus importante au revers, mais parfaitement lisible et identifiable. Épaisse patine grise de collection ancienne

Obverse description : Tête laurée de Domitien à gauche (O*1).
Obverse translation : “Imperator Cæsar Domitianus Augustus Germanicus Pontifex Maximus Tribunicia Potestate octavum”, (L'empereur césar Domitien auguste vainqueur des Germains grand pontife revêtu de la huitième puissance tribunitienne).

Reverse legend : COS XIIII - LVD SAEC FEC.
Reverse description : Prêtre marchant à gauche, coiffé d'un chapeau de sacerdotal, tenant une baguette ou une torche et un bouclier.
Reverse translation : “Consul quartum decimum Ludos Sæculares fecit”, (consul pour la quatorzième fois a organisé les Jeux séculaires).

Augustus

Domitian, born in 51, became august in 81, succeeding his brother. In 86, the Capitoline games were organized for the first time. The Flavian Palace is erected on the Palatine. In 88, the secular games were celebrated with pomp. A first campaign is launched on Dacia which ends with a peace of compromise, leaving Decebalus master of the situation. Domitian has just won a brilliant campaign against the Sarmatians and the Suevi (IMP XXII). Agricola died in disgrace on August 23, 93. In 95, Domitian had Flavius Clemens, his cousin, executed. The following year, Domitian will be assassinated at the instigation of his wife and the prefect of the Praetorium.
