Reverse description : Minerve casquée, debout à gauche, casquée et drapée, tenant un foudre de la main droite et une lance de la main gauche ; un bouclier à ses pieds.
Reverse translation : “Tribunicia Potestate Consul octavum Designatus nonum Pater Patriæ”, (Revêtu de la puissance tribunitienne consul pour la huitième fois désigné pour la neuvième père de la patrie).

Rubans de type 3. Exemplaire en orichalque. L’une des premières émissions de Domitien auguste frappée au cours du quatrième trimestre de l’année 82, en novembre ou décembre.

Augustus

Domitian, born in 51, became august in 81, succeeding his brother. In 86, the Capitoline games were organized for the first time. The Flavian Palace is erected on the Palatine. In 88, the secular games were celebrated with pomp. A first campaign is launched on Dacia which ends with a peace of compromise, leaving Decebalus master of the situation. Domitian has just won a brilliant campaign against the Sarmatians and the Suevi (IMP XXII). Agricola died in disgrace on August 23, 93. In 95, Domitian had Flavius Clemens, his cousin, executed. The following year, Domitian will be assassinated at the instigation of his wife and the prefect of the Praetorium.
