Coments on the condition:
Potin bien identifiable, avec des motifs en faible reliefs. Usure marquée avec une belle patine sombre et brillante mais des zones concrétionnées (mais stables)

Commentary


Ce potin était presque inconnu il y a à peine plus de dix ans. Les premiers exemplaires ont réalisé des prix records. Désormais il reste rare, surtout en très bel état, mais son attribution aux Durocasses est confirmée. L’appellation “aux volutes cruciformes” (initiée dans MONNAIES II) ou “au chignon” désigne désormais sans ambiguïté cette monnaie !.

The Durocasses are not cited by Caesar in the Gallic Wars. They seem to have emancipated themselves from Carnut tutelage quite late, like the Parisii from that of the Senones. Their name means "the warriors of the fortified hill"..
