Obverse translation : “Imperator Cæsar Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus”, (L’empereur césar Marc Aurèle Antonin auguste).

Reverse description : Rome nicéphore assise à gauche, sur un bouclier, tenant une victoire de la main droite et un sceptre long de la gauche.

Reverse translation : “Pontifex Maximus Tribunicia Potestate Consul Pater Patriæ”, (Grand pontife revêtu de la puissance tribunitienne consul père de la patrie).

Commentary

Portrait tout à fait inhabituel. Association rare pour la deuxième émission d’un buste radié, drapé et cuirassé, vu de trois quarts en arrière avec ce type de revers. Ce type est en fait beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages de référence.
