Belle drachme frappée sur un flan idéalement centré. Frappe un peu molle au droit, mais superbe revers de haut relief. Patine grise, de légers reflets dorés

ELUSATES (Area of the Gers)

(3rd-2nd century BC)

Small people of Aquitaine who occupied part of the current department of Gers, corresponding to the former county of Condomois (Comdom). Their capital was Elusa (Eauze, Gers). The Elusates were subjugated in 56 BC by Publius Licinius Crassus, lieutenant of Caesar, the son of Crassus who campaigned in Aquitaine. Sources: Caesar (BG. III, 27).
