Très bel exemplaire idéalement centré des deux cotés sur un flan ovale et épais. Beau portrait et joli revers presque superbe, bien venu à la frappe

Reverse legend : IOVI CONSERVAT.
Reverse description : Jupiter debout à gauche, tenant un foudre de la main droite et un sceptre de la main gauche ; à ses pieds, l’empereur.
Reverse translation : “Iovi Conservatori”, (Jupiter le protecteur).

AEMILIANUS

Emilian was governor of Moesia in 252, when Trebonian Galle entrusted him with the mission of repelling the Goths who had broken the Danubian limes. Emilien succeeds; he is proclaimed emperor by his troops. He marched on Italy and challenged Trebonian Galle and Volusian at Terni. Recognized by the Senate, he was finally assassinated in Spoleto by his soldiers who joined Valerian I.
