Obverse description : Buste rayonnant de trois quarts gauche d’un empereur timuride coiffé d’un turban duquel dépasse une palme dressée vers le haut, et vêtu d’une tenue d’apparat boutonnée jusqu’au col. Inscription circulaire en arabe.

Commentary

Alliage probablement à base d’étain et de cuivre. Fabrication artisanale.
Sultan Ahmed, fils d’Abou Saïd, est un empereur timuride (ou timouride) ayant régné vers 1468 à 1493. Les dates du calendrier de l’Hégire inscrites au revers, 852, 873 et 899, correspondent à 1448, 1468 et 1493 dans le calendrier Grégorien, date de sa naissance, du début et de la fin de son règne. Le chiffre 27 fait sans doute référence à la durée de son règne.
