SPAIN - KINGDOM OF SPAIN - ALFONSO XII

(29/12/1874-25/12/1885)

Alphonse XII (28/11/1857-25/12/1885) is the son of Isabella II who abdicated in her favor in 1868. After the eviction of Amédée de Savoie, king from 1871 to 1873, the republic is proclaimed on February 11, 1873 but Alphonse XII was restored to the Spanish throne on December 29, 1874. He married Maria Mercedes de Bourbon (1860-1878) then in 1879 Marie-Christine of Austria (1858-1929) who gave him a posthumous son , the future Alfonso XIII.
