Les États-Unis honore son corps d’infanterie par l’émission de cette monnaie de 1 Dollar en argent. Le 4 juin 1775, le second Congrès Continental autorisait la création de 10 compagnies d’infanterie légères, l’embryon de ce qui allait devenir les forces armées des États-Unis. Quinze présidents ont servi dans l’infanterie dont Andrew Jackson, Ulysses S. Grant et Dwight Eisenhower.
