Commentary

Largeur : 47,5 mm.
Le portrait de ce médaillon pourrait être rapproché de la représentation du célèbre tableau de Charles Nicholas Cochin où Benjamin Franklin y est représenté avec sa paire de lunettes.
Deux exemplaires similaires, de la collection Richard Margolis, ont été vendu chez Stacks-Bowers Galleries en 2024. D’après le collectionneur, le médaillon aurait été exposé à l'exposition du Grolier Club sur Franklin en 1906 (n° 435, qui, selon M. Margolis, pourrait être la médaille proposée à la vente chez Stack’s Bowers). Un autre exemplaire similaire figurait également dans le catalogue Americana classique de Godfroy Mayer publié à Paris en 1910 sous le numéro 185. Un autre exemplaire serait conservée dans la Boston Public Library.
