Ferdinand of Bavaria is the third son of William V, Duke of Bavaria (1579-1626). He succeeded his uncle Ernest, brother of Guillaume, who died in 1612, Archbishop of Cologne and Bishop of Liège. Ferdinand is Bishop of Liège, Archbishop of Cologne, Elector of the Empire, Prince of Liège and Bavaria, Duke of Bouillon. He died in 1650. It was his nephew, the son of Albert of Bavaria, Maximilian of Bavaria (1650-1688), who succeeded him in the seats of Cologne and Vienna..
