Reverse legend : PONTIF COS II.
Reverse description : Genius (Génie) nu debout à gauche, tenant une patère de la main droite, sacrifiant au-dessus d'un autel allumé, et de la main gauche deux épis.
Reverse translation : "Pontifex Consul iterum", (Pontife consul pour la deuxième fois).

Commentary


Poids léger. Sur cet exemplaire daté de la seconde moitié de l’année 208, la tête de Géta est légèrement barbue.

Caesar

Born on May 26, 189, Geta became Caesar in 198 and received the title of pontifex the following year. He accompanies his father and his brother to Brittany from 208 and is raised to Augustat the following year. When Septimius Severus died in York on February 4, 211, the two brothers brought their father's ashes back to Rome and became co-emperors. But they hate each other. Finally, after a year of joint rule, Caracalla kills his brother in their mother's arms. Geta is dedicated to "damnatio memoriæ" (damnation of memory). His supporters are systematically massacred.
