Obverse description : Grand buste radié et cuirassé de Gordien III à gauche, levant la main droite, tenant un globe de la main gauche (J5).

Obverse legend : AUT K M ANTWNIOS GORD-I-A-NOS AUG, (Autokrator Kaisar Markos Antwnios Gordianos Augustos).

Obverse translation : (L'empereur césar Marc Antoine Gordien auguste).

Reverse

Reverse description : Rome nicéphore, casquée et drapée assise à gauche sur un trône orné de pattes de lion, tenant une petite victoriola de la main droite tendue et une haste transversale de la main gauche, appuyée sur son bouclier.

Reverse legend : UP TERTU-LLIA-NOU MARKIANO-POLIT(WN).

Reverse translation : (Magistrat Tertullien de Marcianopolis).

Commentary

Médaillon de dix assaria (decassaria). Trou de centrage visible des deux côtés. Buste exceptionnel. Rubans de type 3. Cuirasse orné de l’égide. Épaulières ornées d’une tête de lion. Ptéryges larges et tombantes. Mêmes coins que l’exemplaire reproduit dans l’ouvrage de Varbonov, Greek Imperial Coins, vol 1, Dacia, Moesia Superior, Moesia Inferior, p. 185, n° 1931.
