Georges II (10/11/1683-25/10/1760) is the son of Georges I (1714-1727) and Sophie-Dorothée of Brunswick. He succeeded his father in 1726 and was also Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg. He left Walpole to govern until 1742. He was the first Hanoverian king to take an interest in England.
