Exemplaire sur un flan parfaitement centré des deux côtés. Beau portrait d’Hélène avec une rayure sur le visage. Très joli revers. Belle patine vert foncé

Obverse description : Buste drapé d’Hélène à droite, les cheveux retenus par un petit chignon, vu de trois quarts en avant (L).
Obverse translation : “Helena Nobilissima Femina”, (Hélène très noble femme).

Reverse description : Étoile à huit rais dans une couronne fermée.

Commentary


Poids léger. Émission exceptionnelle de l’atelier de Thessalonique sans marque. Le type pour Hélène semble plus rare que celui de Fausta.

Helena, mother of Constantine and first wife of Constantius Chlorus, received the title of augusta in 324. After the death of Fausta and Crispus, she went to the Holy Land. In Jerusalem, she discovered remains of the true cross and founded many institutions. She died in 328, was sanctified and entered in the calendar.
