Exemplaire sur flan quadrangulaire parfaitement centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis complets. Beau portrait d’Honorius. Représentation inhabituelle du revers. Jolie patine vert foncé

Reverse legend : EXAGIVM/ SOLIDI.
Reverse description : Moneta (la Monnaie) , Aequitas (l’Équité) ou Victoria (la Victoire) drapée debout à gauche, tenant une balance de la main droite et une palme de la main gauche ; le tout dans un grènetis carré.
Reverse translation : “Exagium Solidi” (Poids de solidus).

Poids monétaire. Flan carré. Rubans de type 3. Très bel exemplaire de ce type rarement présenté.

HONORIUS

(01/22/393-08/15/423)

Born in 384, Honorius was named Augustus in 393. On the death of his father, he inherited the West with Stilicho as regent. The beginning of the 5th century saw an unprecedented wave of invasions. The limes definitely give way under the pressure. In 410, Rome was even taken. The Western empire is in full disintegration. Numerous usurpations took place in Brittany with Constantin III, in Gaul with Constans, Jovin and Sébastien, in Spain with Maxime and in Italy with Attale. Honorius dies in Ravenna in 423 after thirty years of reign, leaving an empire disintegrated.
