Ali's reign (AH. 221-234) is sandwiched between that of his father, Muhammad bin Idris (AH. 213-221) and that of his brother, Yahya I (AH. 234-249). The Idrisids reigned over Morocco and minted only silver coins between the 8th and 9th centuries AD.
