Commentary


Médaille faisant partie de l’ensemble en souvenir de la famille d’Eugène Martin dit Martin-Chabot.

Dimensions sans la bélière : 32,5*27 mm.
Médaille décernée à Mademoiselle Madeleine Bélières en 1901, conservée dans un écrin rouge gaufré en lettres dorées : MAISON D’EDUCATION / DE / S.T DENIS avec un intérieur en feutrine et soie verte timbrée LEGION D’HONNEUR / MEDAILLE / D’HONNEUR.
Le diplôme est un “Brevet de capacité pour l’enseignement primaire”. Est indiqué ce qui suit : “Le Vice-recteur de l’Académie de Paris. Vu l’article 21 de la loi du 30 octobre 1886; Vu les articles 106 et 107 du décret du 18 janvier 1887 ; Vu les articles 134 à 148 inclus de m’arrêté en date du même jour ; Vu le procès-verbal de l’examen subi par Mademoiselle Belières dans les conditions déterminées par le décret et l’arrêté susvisés ; Vu le certificat en date du 21 juin 1901, par lequel la Commission d’examen siégeant à Paris, département de la Seine pour la 1.ère session de 1901, atteste que Mademoiselle Bélières Sylvie, Félicie, Madeleine, née le 30 novembre 1885, à Paris département de la Seine a été jugée apte à obtenir un Brevet élémentaire pour l’enseignement primaire [etc]”

(4/09/1870-10/07/1940)

The news of the capitulation of Sedan provokes the revolution of September 4, 1870 in Paris. Proclaimed at the Hôtel de Ville, the Republic is endowed with a provisional government called the Government of National Defense. Threatened on the left by the insurrection of the Commune and on the right by the monarchists, the new regime had a difficult start.. Initially head of the executive power (February 1871), Thiers was responsible for reorganizing the country before choosing its form of government.. He became President of the Republic in August 1871 and, despite his action to liberate the territory, had to leave his post in March 1873 in the face of royalist opposition.. The law of the septennat was then put in place in November 1873 and then, in 1875, the fundamental laws were passed which served as the Constitution of the Third Republic.. Separation of Church and State was passed in 1905.. Gathered in the National Assembly in Vichy on July 10, 1940, the Chambers, although elected in 1936, voted full powers to Pétain in a sort of collective suicide by 569 votes for, 80 votes against and 18 abstentions..
