SAINT HELENA ISLAND - GEORGE IV

(1820-1830)

Napoleon died on May 5, 1821 on the island of Saint Helena. It had been a British colony since 1651 after being Portuguese and Dutch. Located more than 1,800 km from the coast of Africa, it was a refueling point for boats going to South America. Napoleon was detained there between 1815 and 1821.
