Exemplaire sur un flan très large, parfaitement centré des deux côtés. Très beau portrait, bien venu à la frappe avec une usure superficielle. Revers magnifique de haut relief. Jolie patine de collection ancienne avec des reflets mordorés

IONIA - SMYRNA

(3rd - 2nd century BC)

Smyrna was one of the oldest cities in Ionia, destroyed in the 6th century BC by the Lydians. The city was refounded three centuries later by Antigone le Borgne at the end of the fourth century BC. After being called Eurydicieia under Lysimachus, Smyrna experienced great expansion after the Peace of Apamea (188 BC). VS.). It became one of the most powerful cities in Asia Minor under Roman rule. It is said to be the homeland of Homer.
