Historical background

IRAN - MOHAMMAD REZA PAHLAVI SHAH

(HS 1320-1358/ 1941-1979)

Riza Pahlavi Shah (26/10/1919-27/07/1980) modernized his country after the Second World War. The agrarian reform that he organized for the benefit of the peasantry and at the expense of the immense lands of the clergy earned him the inexpiable hatred of the latter. In line with Louis XVI and Nicolas II, he owes his fall to his lack of firmness against perfectly organized opponents, to his concern for appearances and foreign affairs to the detriment of domestic problems..
